O Grande Médico - Os estudos que podem ser encontrados neste livro foram apresentados, na sua maioria, nas cidades dos Estados Unidos durante o meu trabalho em conferências. De regresso a Londres, e resumindo a minha obra na Escola Bíblica de Westminster, foram apresentados nesse local e preparados para publicação. O título revela o propósito das considerações. O nosso Senhor referiu-Se à Sua obra como sendo a de um Médico. O pressuposto de que Ele ia curando "todo o tipo de doenças" aplica-se ao nível espiritual tanto como ao mental e ao físico. As Suas próprias palavras em ligação com uma poderosa obra de cura, "curei de todo um homem", revelam o facto de que Ele lidou com o todo da personalidade. Além disso, a suprema preocupação do Seu coração foi sempre a de lidar com a doença espiritual e moral. O nosso propósito, então, é reverentemente observá-Lo no Seu trabalho. Durante a Sua vida, somos privilegiados por podermos vê-Lo a ir ao encontro, em diferentes lugares, e debaixo de circunstâncias variadas, de diferentes tipos de homens e mulheres, e observar como é que Ele lidou com eles. Tal consideração deve ser valiosa para qualquer um que assumiu a cura de almas, ou na terminologia atual, que está a realizar trabalho pessoal. O foco desse trabalho não é a cura, mas sim trazer os doentes de pecado face a face com o Único que cura. Fazer isso exige algum conhecimento dos Seus métodos, e estes são revelados de forma mais visível nos registos do Seu ministério terreno. Ele é o mesmo, ontem, hoje, e para sempre. As páginas impressas retêm muita da rudeza da palavra falada, mas são publicadas debaixo de oração para que sejam de alguma utilidade para demonstrar as glórias do Grande Médico. (G. The studies found in this volume were given for the most part in the cities and towns of the United States during my Conference work. Then returning to London, and resuming my work at the Westminster Bible School, they were given there, and prepared for publication. The title reveals the purpose of the considerations. Our Lord referred to His work as that of the Physician. The statement that He went about healing "all manner of disease" applies to the spiritual as well as to the mental and physical. His own words in connection with a mighty work of healing, "I made a man every whit whole.' ', reveal the fact that He dealt with the whole of personality. Moreover the supreme concern of His heart was ever that of dealing with spiritual and moral malady. Our purpose then is that of reverently watching Him at this work. As He went about, we are privileged to see Him, meeting in different places, and under varying circumstances, varied types of men and women, and to observe how He dealt with them. Such a consideration must be of value to any who have committed to them the cure of souls, or in the terminology of today, who are doing personal work. The business of all such is not that of healing, but that rather of bringing the sin-sick face to face with the One Healer. To do this demands some knowledge of His methods, and these are most radiantly revealed in the records of His earthly ministry. He is the same, yesterday, today, and for ever. The printed pages retain much of the roughness of the spoken word, but are sent forth with the prayer that they may be of some service in setting forth the glories of the Great Physician. (G.
