Capítulos da História da Igreja - Este é o segundo volume da coleção Ensino da Igreja. Retoma a história onde terminam as Sagradas Escrituras, e traça, em linhas gerais, os maiores movimentos da história da Igreja até à sua nova preocupação ecuménica. Não faz qualquer tentativa de ser um um livro de história detalhado, tal como o seu nome, Capítulos da História da Igreja, implica. Esse tipo de livros já se encontra disponível e a maioria não é lida pelas pessoas leigas. Esta coleção não foi escrita para clérigos ou académicos. Foi escrita para os leigos inteligentes e educados. Não diz que é um texto para a Escola da Igreja, mas os pais e os professores irão considerá-lo um recurso valioso. Se o leitor ainda não leu o volume um, As Sagradas Escrituras, recomendamos vivamente a fazê-lo antes de começar este livro. Não é feita qualquer tentativa de voltar a esse tema ou de cobrir assuntos que irão aparecer em livros mais recentes sobre a Fé e a Adoração. Aqui encontra-se a história do Anglicanismo e da nossa tradição varrida pela história Cristã mais abrangente. Irá ajudar o leitor a ver o Corpo de Cristo de forma mais clara. 

HIS is the second volume in THE CHURCH'S TEACHING series. It takes up the story where The Holy Scriptures ended, and traces in broad strokes the major movements in the history of the Church down to its new ecumenical concern. It makes no attempt to be a detailed history book as its name Chapters in Church History implies. Such books are already available and, for the most part, remain unread by lay people. This series is not written for clergy and scholars. It is written for the average intelligent, educated layman. It goes without saying that it is not a Church School text, although parents and teachers will find it a valuable resource. If the reader has not already read volume one, The Holy Scriptures, we strongly urge him to do so before beginning this book. No attempt is made to retrace that ground or to cover subjects which will appear in later books on Faith and Worship. Here is the story of Anglicanism and our own tradition set over against the broad sweep of Christian history. It will help the reader to see the Body of Christ more clearly.
