A segunda é esta, "o justo viverá pela fé": uma figura de um sentido de certeza, apesar das aparências, e uma condição de consequente confiança. A fé é o princípio de vida que fornece, continua e alcança. No capítulo onze de Hebreus vemos o que é a fé, e cada caso termina numa justificação dela mesma. É, por isso, a partir desta grande passagem clássica que o assunto da Fé é considerado em relação à sua aplicação para os tempos presentes.

There are two philosophies of life. The first, "the puffed-up" or "the swollen," a graphic picture of pride and self-sufficiency. The second is this, "the righteous one shall live by faith": a figure of a sense of certainty, in spite of appearances, and a condition of consequent trustworthiness. Faith is the principle of life that furnishes, continues, and achieves. In the eleventh chapter of Hebrews we see what faith is equal to, and in every case it ends in vindication of itself. It is, therefore, from this great classic passage that the subject of Faith is considered in relation to its application for the present times.
